As Southern Italy became Americanized in the years following World War II, this traditional rural society saw their young people playing baseball, smoking Camel cigarettes, and drinking whisky & sodas. The infectious rhythms of swing and early rock & roll penetrated the music scene in the Old Country. Parents’ hair turned gray as their children danced to a new beat! Music by the renowned swing master Renato Carosone among others.
