Event Details

A Passage to India / contemporary

Toronto Masque Theatre's latest commission, The man who married himself, is based on a Narcissus-like folk tale from Karnataka, a region in south western India.

Join Artistic Director Larry Beckwith in conversation with composer Juliet Palmer, librettist Anna Chatterton and choreographer Hari Krishnan, as we learn how the traditions of India have both influenced and inspired them in the creation of this new masque. We will also consider the parallels between the music theatre traditions of South East Asia and the masque tradition of the West..

The evening will also feature live performances from the acclaimed duo of Suba Sankaran and Dylan Bell.

29 February 2016, 7:30 p.m.

Our salons are hosted by Walter and Marina Unger. Snacks included. Cash bar.
