LECTURE - TALK IN FRENCH
BUILDING EGYPT IN THE WEST
The Expositions Universelles or World’s Fair served for over 150 years as a primary platform for the display of the latest scientific and technological innovations from around the world. They have also promoted an underlying cultural exchange where, since the late 1800’s, Egypt was at the center of its attractions. This lecture will outline the history of “Building Egypt in the West” complete with a Cairo street filled with donkeydrivers, and belly dancers.
By Sherine El Sebaie, PhD candidate - studies in Egyptology at the University of Toronto.
