BEN GROSSMAN, hurdy gurdy – ARJA KASTINEN, kantele – ALISON MELVILLE, flutes

Come hear the shimmering sound of the kantele (Finland’s dulcimer), the multi-faceted pungency of the hurdy gurdy, and the evocative colours of wooden flutes. This informal program of traditional, new and experimental music brings together three leading instrumentalists from diverse musical worlds to weave a fabric of magical and exotic sounds in one, two and three parts. A perfect and thoughtful Sunday evening’s entertainment, in the informal atmosphere of the Main Hall of Toronto’s Tranzac Club. Refreshments available.

Presented with the assistance of the ARTS PROMOTION CENTRE FINLAND. (Kiitos!)

The group is also performing in St. Catharines for the Gallery Players of Niagara, where this music is combined with Northern Oracle, an installation by artist Heather Hart organized and circulated by the Doris McCarthy Gallery.
