Special Concert featuring Jean Rondeau (harpsichord)
“Dance, dance! Otherwise we are lost”.
Here are the words of Pina Bausch that, barycentrically, bring together static movement in a comprehensive reflection on the transformation of the world using the body, reason, as well as dance, mother and source of everything. Let’s experiment by enjoying music as delicate and subtle as that of the 18th-century French Baroque composers who, in a precise and restrictive system, may have succeeded in reaching this balance through dances, even popular ones.
Young French harpsichordist, Jean Rondeau, returns to the stage of the Spadina Theatre for a con-
cert dedicated to French Baroque music highlighting François Couperin and Jean-Philippe Rameau. Jean Rondeau has won several prizes, including the prestigious first place title at Bruges’s 2012 International Harpsichord Competition at the age of 21. After many notable awards and much media attention (Le Monde, Télérama, Diapason Magazine, etc.), he received the Prix Révélation for solo instrumentalists at the 2015 Victoires de la Musique Classique.
