Fresh off her second year of producing the very successful Kensington Market Jazz Festival, beloved musician, singer and community worker Genevieve Marentette will launch a year-long series called “Women In Jazz” in support of the Women’s College Hospital. She says, “It is shocking to me how little is known about this fantastic instutution and about the women’s “health gap” that exists. In honour of my 40th year of life I am hoping to bring awareness to this and perhaps raise some money too.” With this event Genevieve will launch a year long fundraising & media campaign on behalf of this organization.”

In the spirit of the feminine she has gathered award-winning composer Nancy Walker on acoustic grand Piano, the wonderful Carlie Howell on bass, and rising star Zaynab Wilson on drums. This evening at the wonderful gallery space will also feature special guests such as young bandleader and trumpeter Marie Gaudy and fellow jazz vocalist Joanna Majoko, as well as surprises. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Women’s College Hospital and include a raffle with prize of a private house concert from Genevieve.
